Welcome to the Race for Kindness 2021! This is a free, community-wide, Amazing Race-style event, comprised of 25 teams of 4 team members of all ages, competing for a grand prize of $1,000! 100 people delivering 200 hours of kindness and community service, over the course of 2 hours. Each team must register online (yourfountain.org/race) by end of the day, November 4th. In addition, each team will need a driver and vehicle to use during the race. On the day of the race, team members will meet at The Fountain (Fountaintown Christian Church), 797 W. Brookville Road, Fountaintown, IN 46130, to get their race packets and prepare to… Race for Kindness!

Preparing for the race:

• Arrive on time! 2 PM sharp is the cut-off, but you can arrive as early as 1 PM

• Wear comfy shoes and clothes

• Prepare for the weather – we do live in Indiana! This is a rain or shine event

• Your team will need 1 vehicle and a designated, licensed driver

• Make sure your transportation has enough gas, is fully operational, and insured

• Make sure someone on your team has a phone with picture taking and texting capabilities

Event:

On the day of the race, each team will receive a race packet with 7 kindness tasks, rules, and other helpful information.  1 of the 7 tasks will be required.  Each team will get to pick 4 of the 6 remaining for a total of 5 tasks that must be completed to be eligible to win.  Teams must brainstorm their approach to completing the tasks.  Teams will be given identifying race bibs to wear during the event.  Once the race officially begins the teams will head out to complete their tasks.  25 teams will be competing simultaneously, however, there will be a wide array of different tasks.  In other words, teams will more than likely not be doing the same kindness tasks at the same time.  Team members must stay together at all times.  It will be important to take your proof pictures exactly as identified in the task assignments in order for the judges to determine completion upon your return to the Fountain.   Please take all proof pictures from one phone and when you return to the Fountain, be prepared to walk the judges through your photos (by task number).  Additionally, you will be asked to text a few pictures during the race to a specific phone number so that a slide show can be prepared to share later during the award ceremony.   The judges will determine if all tasks have been fully and accurately completed.  If any tasks are considered incomplete and there is still time, the team will go back out and redo the task or select one of their other kindness tasks to complete, returning once again to the Fountain to have their tasks inspected by a judge.  The first team back to the Fountain after successfully completing their 5 tasks will be deemed the winner!  Regardless of status, all teams must be back to the Fountain no later than 4:30 PM.  We will have free raffle prizes, food, and more!

A few of the envelopes will offer surprises, detours, and incentives for even more fun! Teams:

  • All teams must consist of 4 people (no more, no less)

  • All team members must be registered and have signed a waiver

  • All team members must remain together and participate in all tasks

  • All team members must follow proof picture instructions provided in each task (taken on one phone)

  • All team members must be at the Fountain no later than 2 PM

  • All team members must return to the Fountain together by 4:30 PM to present their pictures for inspection by the judges.

Tasks:

  • Read the tasks and follow all directions precisely – remember to think creatively and outside of the box, especially if details are not provided.

  • Decide which kindness tasks your team will complete and grab the necessary supplies from the supply table

  • Even though this is called a “race”, it is expected that you will obey all traffic laws and be respectful at all times.

  • Read and re-read your tasks to make sure you understand them fully.  It is very important to complete the tasks exactly as written;  not doing so could cost you the race

  • Our judges will have the final say in deciding task completeness and accuracy, as well as determining the grand prize winner.

  • Please keep in mind, this is a Race for Kindness, so… BE KIND!

Winning:

The first team back to the Fountain to fully complete 5 tasks, approved by our judges, will be deemed the winning team.

Once all teams are back from the race, there will be a brief presentation, recognition of the winning team, free raffles, and a free meal catered by Qdoba. The winning team will receive their award right after the presentation to be spent/divided at their discretion. All 4 team members must be present to win.
